Song of the Week #56 My Way – Olivia Rodrigo

Hey there helpers! Welcome back to the Song of the Week series. This week, I am joined by Laiba! She reccomended My Way by Olivia Rodrigo!

Here’s what she had to say about the song:

My favourite song at the moment is My Way by Olivia Rodrigo!! I’ve been a big fan of hers since I watched the high school musical series and I love her music so much. The reason I like this song so much it because it’s a pop-rock fusion and it stood out to me the most in the album. The “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” has many great songs but a lot of them are more pop songs in my opinion. I love the lore behind “my way”, the lyrics and can listen to it for HOURS! I’ve probably listened to it 100+ times since the album released haha I love it so much <33
We have another banger submission, and notably, it is also a second song submission by Olivia Rodrigo! This time, we have an upbeat tune peppered with swinging synths throughout. Furthermore, the vocals complement the harmonies and layers, which, as a result, blend well into the mix. Additionally, the bass riff adds catchiness, and the high synths feel like a delightful callback to 2000s pop. Meanwhile, Rodrigo sings about complicated relationships, jealousy, and defensiveness over her established relationship. These are classic themes and, therefore, are very relatable to many. Overall, it’s a well-produced, catchy song and a wonderful submission from Laiba!
