Food for Every Soul

Hello Helpers! Welcome back to another edition of Food for Every Soul by myself, Mayathefirst! In this series I interview people from the Help Force about their favorite and famous recipes. For this post, I decided to interview the HF Commodore: ShadyPanda!

I started off by asking Shady some questions about the recipe her decided to share with us today!

Hello Shady, welcome to this recipe interview! Can you tell us what savage recipe you will be talking about today?
Shady: I will be talking about how to make a gujiya, my favorite indian recipe 😋😋
Gujiya Recipe (Fried and Baked) » Dassana's Veg Recipes

Can you tell us why this recipe is important to you? Is it a family recipe, and is there any history or story behind it?
Shady: This is an Indian snack usually made during Holi, an Indian festival of colors and that was the first time I had it also. Since then I have loved it ❤️

Here comes the best part, the Recipe! (As explained in detail by Shady)

Gujiya

1. Prepare the white flour dough by adding 2 cups of flour + 4 spoons of oil.

2. Then bind it by adding warm water. It should not be wet, it should be as hard as possible. On the other side, prepare the filling.

3. For the filling you need thick condensed dry milk residue. So ½ cup of residue made with 3 liters of milk + 2 cups of sugar.

4. 1 spoon powder of green cardamom. 1 spoon of small cut almond. 1 spoon of small cut pistachos. 2 spoons of raisins then mix it all up.

5. Then make small balls of the dough and roll it flat like the size of 3-in diameter circle.

6. Then, fill in ½ spoon of the mixture, then around the circle of the roll put on a drop of paste all around made of little water and little flour powder, then fold it in half to make a ‘D’ shape.

7. Then press the ends of the circle to close it. Then deep fry both sides until it becomes light golden.

8. Then there you have your gujiya!

Do you have any tips or tricks on making it or why people may like this recipe, or any memories from it?
Shady: As long as ur not allergic to nuts, it’s all good. Uhh I remember this one time, when I was in India for Holi and we were making gujiyas. I asked my mom if I could have it after dinner, so she said when Holi starts. So in the middle of the night, I sneaked downstairs to eat one… but I ended up choking on it anddd got caught 👍
Thank you ShadyPanda for doing this interview for us!

Shady: yww 😀

With that, we’ve reached the end of the post. I know you wanted to read more XD but I will be back next time with more fresh and delicious content. If anyone would like to share a recipe with us, DM me with your ideas.

Bon Appetit! <3
