Do I really have to say it? Sigh… “hElLo HeLpErS”, ig. Dhanush is bribing me with ice cream to write this edition of the Faces of the Force column. In case you’re new here, hi there, you might be our next candidate, drop me a DM 😉 This column is all about getting to know the most important part of HF – our troops. In this edition, we’re gonna meet Gunther, a super active troop currently holding the rank of Specialist. He joined like a month ago and already has like 6k messages wtf bro. Wow. Congrats. That might be a record, or at least in the Top 10. Regardless, the HF Syndrome is strong with this one. Let’s talk to him!

Hellooo Gunther! How are you doing today?

I’m doing great! Hbu!

I’m doing amazing, thanks! How about you start by telling us how you joined the HF?

Great to hear that! About how I joined HF, I think it was just one of those days of waddling randomly on CPJ for me when I happen to run into a mini stamp seg at the Night Club. I honestly never even knew about communities existing so I joined right away when they talked about it 😼. Best decision of the month for me for sure.
“They” as in Diwix I think. Pretty sure that’s how I was invited into the server.

Since then, how have you been enjoying your time in Help Force? Do you have any fond memories of an event you participated in?

I have been just talking about random things in general chat, which is what I love doing. Everyone here is so kind and funny so talking to them has been so enjoyable. Love ushering people to go to bed in their timezone as well. The counting chat is amazing btw (who would even thought of that?)!

As for my favorite event, I think that would be the mega stamp seg that happened last week, because WOW there was like over 30 of us just going igloo to igloo, which was really impressive. I also really like the Blacksmith event! Now that exams are ALMOST over, I do hope to see more amazing events happening in summer!

That’s an easy question to answer! It’s from the penguin Gunter from Adventure Time (he’s the ultimate evil fella). I had it as “Gunther” instead of “Gunter” simply because I misspelt it (but I hope Gunter’s spirit will remain with me).

So, who do you consider your closest friend in HF? I have a guess that its Usagi :sip:

I would say Diwix and Miggie! I love Usagi as well simply because we have the same Usagi lifestyle (tuff, nonchalant, and gluttonous).

Diwix is like my mother, he is the first person that I met here in HF and he’s taught me a lot about how communities work (I have learnt a lot from Zenishira as well – he is truly very knowledgeable). It is a also a huge coincidence that Diwix and I happen to live in the same city :3

ahaha amazing, How would you describe HF in 5 words?

chaotic-good (?), stamps, heartwarming, explosive, cookies

That’s a nice way to describe HF haha amazingg! Now time for questions, leaving HF aside. Do you have any hobbies IRL?

I would say that I do! I like going on hikes (just easy ones for I cannot climb the rocks), running, sleeping, and reading (I am currently reading like 6 at the same time because I cannot stick to 1 for the life of me). I do also doomscroll if that’s considered a hobby 😔

Would you like to tell us about one of your hikes? Probably the one you consider the best one yet?

Oh there is one that comes to mind. It was surely one of the hikes ever! The trees and everything looked amazing, we were lucky enough to see so many lyrebirds and echidnas, as well as a lot wombat poop (very green!). We got our food taken from our hands by the ugly kookaburras that were camping there (god forbid a man enjoy his lunch in the middle of his hike), and we were so excited to see this waterfall that was supposedly very beautiful but turned out to be just a small stream of water flowing down, while trying not to slip and fall on the rocks. Overall I would say this is my best hike yet!

What kind of food do you enjoy?

I love my Viet food, all the pho, the banh mi, the bun cha, bun rieu and all that (huge fan of noodle soups). I also really like the staple pub eats here like parmas (parmis?) – maybe this is just a opportunity for me to eat fried chicken, which is one of the things I love the most, which is also the worst thing I could eat for my health 🙁

Are you currently reading any books or watching any series? which genre do you like the best?

I am currently watching Murderbot (honestly I watch everything that my housemate puts on the TV)! It is really funny so far and I like that the main character navigates what is happening in the show (like Dexter or Joe Goldberg from You). I am in the midst of reading Breast and Eggs (Mieko Kawakami), The Stolen Bicycle (Wu Ming-yi), and a couple more that I can’t remember. Usually the genre that I go for is whatever-sounds-interesting and that really does land me on some amazing reads!

Are you interested in music? Is there a favorite artist or genre you listen to?

I don’t have a specific genre that I like (I think!) because I am very indecisive (if you can’t already tell 😔 ). I am currently listening to a lot of Toro y Moi, ROLE MODEL and Arctic Monkeys. I do go for a lot of Zedd for my runs as well!

Lastly, Gunther is there anything you would like to share with our fellow members of the Help Force?

I would like to say please keep slaying and being cool HF! This is my first ever time in a community and I’m very glad that it’s HF I stumbled upon. I hope to see HF grow even more (as long as Jo doesn’t keep eating all the members) and I can’t wait to see HF in full glory during battle season!
