Song of the Week #15

Welcome back to the legendary song of the week! Archana is here with the most special, lovely goose, Plotter! Giving us his wonderful music taste!

Song: Sleep by Godspeed you! black emperor

Here’s what Plotter had to say about the song:

neo was the reason i discovered the song, and I think I have a very strong sentiment attached to it. Its quite emotionally intense after the first minute or two and takes you on quite a journey with how the song unveils. Adding on to the fact that the song has no lyrics, makes it open to any interpretation even if I were to have multiple versions myself. It gives me a lot of freedom with how I choose to enjoy the song. I enjoy how mellow it is for the most part and how some bits grow intense.

The song Sleep by Goodspeed You! Black Emperor is 23:17 minutes long. It started with a story telling, continued to a mellow tune of the violin and a bass guitar, then an electric guitar and drum that made the song more relaxing to listen to. I really enjoyed listening to this!! It’s like your different personalities battling in just one song, which makes it so great and so catchy. The instrument changes are so perfect, and the cinematic and atmospheric nature of this song is everything. A wide range of emotions and imaginations in a 23-minute-long song is all you can ask for, to be honest. The band’s unique style and ability to create immersive sonic experiences contribute to their appeal for many fans of post-rock and experimental music

Godspeed You! Black Emperor is a Canadian post-rock band known for their instrumental and often experimental compositions. The band has eight members. Guitarist David Bryant. And Karl Lemieux, the band’s visual collaborator. Sleep was released in 2000 with the album Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven. Everything in this album is a masterpiece you guys should try to listen to this!! The song is always available on Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube Music and Deezer.
