Hey everyone!! I’m finally back with another song this week from a very admirable person. This week, our dear admiral Scorp, has suggested this smashing song called Sweet Child O’ Mine by Guns N’ Roses!
Here’s what he had to say about the song:
Most of my favourites are from bands like Guns n Roses and AC DC, and the one I like the most is Sweet Child O Mine, by Guns N Roses. For many fans the song represents the peak of Guns N Roses and 1980’s music, but it also has a personal significance for me.
Sweet Child O Mine was one of the first English rock songs I ever heard, and as a kid when I got my guitar it was also one of the first rock songs i learnt to play properly. Back then, there weren’t as many YouTube tutorials as there are now, and I mostly figured out the song by myself so it was pretty meaningful to me. The song itself has arguably the most famous guitar riff ever, and it was actually never meant to be included in the album called “Appetite For Destruction” that Guns N Roses released.
Typically, Guns N Roses are a hard rock type of band, but some times the lead singer Axl Rose would push the band to release an occasion soft song like this one. The “joke song” ended up being the star of the album and helped them hit #1 on the Top Charts. Listening to it is time that I never consider wasted. Every single time, the music washes over me like its the first time, and Slash’s solo always results in goosebumps. This is definitely the one song I’m never letting go of for the rest of my life.
