Administration Statement Regarding Recent Events
I understand the gravity of the community’s concerns right now, and I want to clarify that I do not take this lightly. However, it is crucial to address the context and the circumstances surrounding the decisions made in 2021. I want the readers to carefully go through this post and try to understand the details and context behind what panned out.
First of all, I want to make this clear that any ‘evidence’ we ever received did not contain anything sexual or had any share of indecent images. All of the evidences which were sent to us contained both the parties having flirty conversations which is what made this entire case challenging. We never received any evidence of any sharing of indecent images between the two parties, nor anything which would point to something explicitly sexual.
For those unaware, this post is in response to what happened between Rooboo and Lydia in 2021. You can read her document here. Help Force’s leaders during that tenure were myself, Vedant, Elpiojo123, and Nell. We acted based on our understanding of online laws and available information at that time. It is essential to recognize that we are not legal professionals. Expecting us to have a comprehensive knowledge of all legal nuances, especially in a complex situation, is unrealistic. We were dealing with a situation where there was no evidence of nudity, explicit sexual activity, or child pornography (CP), which made it challenging to take decisive action. The lack of clear evidence left us in a difficult position, as any decision had to be carefully weighed against the potential legal ramifications.
The age of consent is a crucial legal standard in such cases. In the UK, it is 16; in Egypt, it is 18. Both the parties involved were above their respective ages of consent. The document mentions that “it is irrelevant,” but in a situation that lacks absolute proof and evidence of explicit sexual activity, the age of consent acts as a baseline, wherein legal boundaries were not crossed. This was not dismissing your concerns but rather navigating a legally ambiguous situation with the information and resources we had at the time.
Considering that I was 17 years old during this period is also essential. I was still a minor myself, trying to handle a situation that was complex and beyond the typical scope of what someone my age would be expected to manage. The actions were based on our best knowledge, which included understanding the legal baselines regarding the age of consent and the absence of explicit content. I needed to gain the experience and legal expertise to make decisions beyond what the evidence and legal frameworks suggested.
The document mentioned that the lack of explicit sexual content doesn’t change the nature of the situation, and I do understand why the community feels that way. However, legally speaking, this impacts how such cases are handled, especially regarding online interactions.
I also want to address the point about negligence and lack of compassion. I can assure you that my actions were never about favoring one person over another or downplaying the seriousness of anyone’s concerns. The reality is that with no evidence of nudity or CP and with both parties being of the age of consent, the situation was not as clear-cut as it might seem. The decisions were not about dismissing your experiences but navigating a complex legal landscape with limited resources and knowledge. It was not a matter of corruption or favoritism but rather an effort to navigate a difficult situation as reasonably and legally as possible.
I’ll now move forward and discuss the bans mentioned in the document. In 2021, our leadership was busy handling all sorts of drama with the Silver Empire. Now and then, there’d be news of troop stealing, among other things. Monika, Plotter, and Lydia were the ones who were involved in a server bad-mouthing the Help Force.
Monika left the Help Force server alone after an incident involving talking badly about the army on a private server, along with other people. Also, this happened days before the Rooboo allegations came to surface. Xtra, who then vouched for Monika and Lydia, was shut down because of this drama. When the Rooboo allegations came to light, Xtra left Help Force alone after discussing Lydia with us. Elp later banned him and then unbanned by Nell two weeks later because he wanted to rejoin as a visitor. He’s been on good terms with Help Force ever since. Also, unlike what the document mentions, I talked with Xtra about this incident in detail and agreed that it was creepy. The lack of explicit sexual activity and nudity made it difficult for me to take any action since both parties were above their ages of consent.
After careful consideration and in light of recent developments, Rooboo will be removed from his leadership position. I want to clarify why this decision wasn’t made three years ago when the situation initially arose. At that time, Lydia did not come forward with a definitive statement regarding any wrongdoing by Rooboo. The information we had was mixed, with varying perspectives and a lack of clear consensus, especially from Lydia herself. As shown in the screenshots, her stance was not conclusive, which made it challenging for us to fully understand the situation’s implications. However, now that Lydia has made the decision to speak out more clearly, I feel it is my responsibility to respect her voice and ensure that her concerns are addressed appropriately. This decision is being made out of a commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive community, and I appreciate everyone’s understanding as we move forward.
I genuinely regret that the community feels let down by how this was handled, and for that, we are genuinely sorry. However, I must stand by my actions based on the information, legal standards, and resources available to me at the time. This was a complex and nuanced situation, given the evidence I was presented with, my age, experience, and understanding of the online law. I hope the readers find sense in our explanation, and see to it that acting on this wasn’t as easy as any other case online.
